PRO-AM STRICTLY SWING

6 Divisions: Leader Am (Newcomer, Novice & Intermediate) and Follower Am (Newcomer, Novice & Intermediate)

ALL CONTESTS are GENDER Neutral.
Ams may dance as a LEADER and/or FOLLOWER, but must remain in that role for the the entire dance. The am may only dance once per division (or level). So a Novice dancer can dance as a Novice leader and a Novice Follower with 2 different pros or the same pro.  The judging emphasis is placed on the Am’s execution of the judges’ criteria.

PLEASE NOTE: All FOLLOWERS within a division compete against each other, regardless of gender. All LEADERS within a division compete against each other, regardless of gender.

Pros may dance as a leader and/or follower, and are limited to 4 Ams per contest, not to exceed a total of 14 Ams FOR ALL CONTESTS.  (Pros may dance with the same am in both the Mixed Pro-Am and a Pro-Am Strictly Swing Contest.)

2nd Win Limit – If a Pro-Am Strictly Swing Couple has placed first 2 times at Tulsa Spring Swing in a specific level (such as Novice), the Am may enter the contest/division, however must dance with a different pro or must move UP to dance with the same pro.

PRO – Any level dancer who teaches for income may dance as a Pro. Dancing ProAm will not affect your JJ or SS qualifications.

AM – An “Am” in the Pro-Am contests must qualify as a Newcomer, Novice or Intermediate dancer.

*ProAm Exception–you MAY dance as an INTERMEDIATE am if you: have danced as a Pro in a Pro-Am at an invitational Swing event but have not placed in the top half in more than 7 years; OR have danced as a Pro in the beginner levels of a country Pro-Am; OR have only danced as a Pro in a Club or local contest.

JACK & JILL CONTESTS

GENERAL … Dancers may only enter one level of WSDC Jack & Jill.  Regarding age-defined contests, Masters and Juniors dancers may also dance in another division for which they are qualified. However, Juniors under the age of 10 should seek approval from the Event Director or Head Judge prior to registration.

… All contestants must meet the World Swing Dance Council minimum points and wins requirement for the contest they enter. Dancing UP (or having danced up) a level in Strictly Swing does NOT qualify a dancer to compete at that same level in Jack & Jill–the WSDC guidelines and the additional TSS ceiling restrictions will be used for Jack & Jill qualification.
…PLEASE NOTE: the points and tiers changed in 2018. Click HERE to see the updated WSDC Points Registry Rules.
